WGA Jean Renoir Award for Abbas Kiarostami

Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated actress Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse) presents the 2017 Writers Guild of America, West Jean Renoir Award for International Screenwriting Achievement to Ahmad Kiarostami, the son of late Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, whose acclaimed films include Taste of Cherry, The Wind Will Carry Us, Close-Up, and the Koker trilogy.
The Jean Renoir Award is given to “that international writer who has advanced the literature of motion pictures through the years and who has made outstanding contributions to the profession of screenwriter.”
The Writers Guild Awards West Coast ceremony was hosted by actor-writer-comedian Patton Oswalt (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Veep) on February 19, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The Writers Guild Awards honor outstanding writing in film, television, new media, videogames, news, radio, promotional, and graphic animation categories.
